FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions.
Here are some common questions.

Will this ministry take people out of my church on Sunday Mornings?

WOF was designed to help build the local church. We do not participate in rides or events during church service times. We are dedicated to building the local church. Once per year we have a National Rally that is held in August that is a training session and relationship building session that is held Wednesday through Saturday. We advocate weekly home church attendance.

Who is in charge of the ministry?

Each chapter is under the leadership of its local pastor and is sponsored by a local church. The pastor chooses the leaders of his group, who shall be members of his church, and the pastor remains in charge of the local chapter. Wheels of Faith State and National Officers will assist the chapter with coaching, helping with vision, and in other areas as requested. WOF does have guidelines that shall be followed for the health and success of the ministry at the local level. WOF National Office holds the authority to patch members who qualify and are approved by the local pastor, and National has the authority to remove patches from individuals for violating the member covenant.

Can others who do not go to my church join my church chapter?

Yes. Ideally, each church should start their own chapter, but one church may not have an abundance of riders, so two churches may join together to form one chapter. The sponsoring church shall have most of the members from its church in leadership, especially the president. Once the group grows in size, the group would normally multiply into two chapters, one in each church.

Has this ministry really helped grow the church?

Yes. We have a threefold process to ministry, namely Fellowship, Discipleship, and Evangelism. We build relationships through fellowship rides that start at the local church. Everyone is invited to attend, and those who are unsaved are invited as well. We make friends and build relationships with them, and they will come and visit your church. 90% plus of individuals that are saved will tell you that they were saved in a church service. That is why church is vital. Once in church, they will get saved, and they will start attending your church because they have already built relationship with your members. We have seen this as the standard. Others that are saved already that are looking for a safe group to ride with will join your church because of this ministry. This ministry exists to build your church. We also do ministry evangelism outreaches at rallies and events.
Every member of WOF goes through training that is designed to not only help the chapter, but also the church. New members are required to read “God’s Armor Bearer” 2004 by Terry Nance. This book is the best book that we have found for assisting leaders and pastors. It will change their lives. We also have an online manual about fellowship, evangelism, and discipleship. There is an open book test on both of these resources that are required for membership.

What do I need to do to get started?

To get started, go to www.wheelsoffaithmm.org/contact_us.html and email Chaplain Jeff for a startup manual for Wheels of Faith MM. The manual has every step that you need to start your chapter in your church. The manual is nearly 60 pages, and filled with details and ideas that are proven to be successful for every church. Though the manual is 60 pages, the steps that you need are all on one page, and it is very easy to follow. We are here to help you.

What does it cost the church to get started?

WOF is not a burden to the church with startup fees and high administrative costs. We want your church to be blessed by this ministry. There is a minimal cost for the patch ($80) for each member joining, but it is virtually free for the church. It is customary to support the National President not only with prayer but also with monthly financial assistance, but this is not a requirement for starting a chapter. If pastors decide to support this ministry, pastors determine the amount appropriate for their church. As most pastors know, giving to missions is vital for the growth of the church, and large churches seeded their growth by giving to missions. Small churches grow to big churches because they give 10% or more of their church income to missions, along with other visionary practices. If we want our people to have a heart for reaching their community through evangelism, pastors must set the example by giving to missions. This ministry is good ground and it is helping the local church to grow. And giving to missions is the seed needed for growth for your church. Of course, this is a decision between the pastor and the Lord.

What about Liability?

While motorcycling is inherently dangerous, we have taken steps to protect your individuals, churches, and Districts. We have a waiver that was developed by an attorney, which will protect you from frivolous lawsuits. It is the responsibility of each individual to be safe. We obey all traffic laws and we advocate the use of all safety equipment and DOT approved helmets. We recommend the Advanced Riders Course for every rider.

I already have more things to do than time to do them. How much of my time will this consume?

As much or as little time as you would like. Once you have selected or approved those you would like to represent your church and WOF as officers, and because WOF is a laity-led ministry, you do not have to be directly involved. The chapter officers will be accountable to you or the designated staff pastor of your choice and the WOF National office. The officers will get approval beforehand for ministry and outreach events as well as keep you informed of meetings, rides, and other ministry activities.

Personally, I don’t like or know anything about motorcycles. Why would I want to have a WOF Chapter at my church?

WOF is dedicated to building the local church through the three fold ministry. It serves as a small group ministry of the church. This ministry has been proven to help the local church grow using hobby ministry, and with motorcycling being the fastest growing hobby in the nation, why not tap into a new way of drawing people into your church. Motorcyclists are looking for fellowship, and what better place to draw them than into a small group ministry in your church.

Feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.
